Bor, Southern Sudan

Bor Dinka communities suffered terribly during the 1987-2005 civil war. Many Bor children and youth escape the violence, travelling first to Ethiopia, then to Kakuma refugee camp in northern Kenya. In time, some resettled in the United States, Australia,and elsewhere. Other Bor Dinka have recently been resettled back in Bor. In Summer 2007, the artist Atem Aleu returned to Bor to hold art workshops for young people.
