A ALDEIA é uma associação que surgiu no Nordeste Transmontano com o objectivo de contribuir para um desenvolvimento sustentável, fundamentado na conservação da Natureza e da Cultura e Tradições que sobrevivem nos meios rurais.
The Platform SABOR LIVRE opposes construction of the Baixo Sabor dam
because:
1: The area of influence of the Baixo Sabor dam has unique ecological
value and is irreplaceable.
2: The environmental impacts of large dams are too high and irreversible
(e.g. destruction of ecosystems of great importance, extinction and
substantial reduction of migratory and resident fish, respectively,
contamination of water reserves, retention of sediments and nutrients,
etc.). Moreover, large dams have a very short life span (between 50 and 70
years) so their construction should be avoided at all cost.
3: It is urgent to define and implement a national energy plan that gives
priority to incentives for energy efficiency and renewable energies
4: Genuine adoption of the principles underlying the Kyoto Protocol demands
that a reduction of CO2 emissions in Portugal be obtained through
implementing a combination of cost-efficient and previously studied
measures within the industry, transport and housing sectors. Options such
as incentives for renewable energy, energy conservation, and expansion of
the electric grid could eliminate the need for construction of new large
dams.
5: The ecological importance of the Sabor river valley amply justifies its
classification as a protected area of national and international interest.
Casa da Ribeira is a small farm situated between Coimbra and Viseu, 5km from the town of Tabua. It is an informal, friendly place, ideal for hosting courses where peace, pure air and beautiful scenery are essential conditions for a positive outcome.
We are a small group of people, who have lived harmoniously together at Casa Ribeira for around 8 years.
Originating from Angola, Portugal, Cabo-Verde and Guine Bissau, during these years we have created a bond between our different cultures and traditions.
Our life as musicians and dancers of the group Djamboonda has been the base of this communal dream.

The "Healing Biotope 1 Tamera" in southern Portugal is an international training and experimental site for the development of peace research villages and healing biotopes worldwide. Under the motto "Think Local, Act Global", approx. 150 people live, work and study in Tamera. Tamera´s aim is to build up an example of a pilot model for a nonviolent co-existence of people and between people and nature. The main tasks of Tamera are: the education of young people in the peace study "Monte Cerro", the building up of a village model called “Solar Village” which produces its own food and solar energy, and in the global political network under the name of GRACE.
Ecotopia is an international gathering of young people from all over Europe involved or interested in environmental and social justice issues. Ecotopia takes place every summer since 1989, each year in a different country. It is organised by EYFA (European Youth For Action) and by a local grassroots environmental organisation as host organisation. This year, the 19th edition will take place in Portugal.
