Completed in 1606 as the Spanish capital of the Philippines. Many of the walls and some of the buildings exist until today despite heavy damage during World War II.
An active stratovolcano. It consists of a huge ancient 25–30 km caldera in which lies Taal Lake. The active volcano, Taal Volcano lies within the lake and contains another lake, Crater Lake. There are magnificent views from the town of Tagaytay on the rim
