Tornada a Catalunya

L'any 1972 va tornar a Catalunya i s'instal·là a Romanyà de la Selva (Baix Empordà). Allà va completar la seva novel·la més ambiciosa, Mirall trencat (1974) i el recull de contes Viatges i flors (1980). La seva darrera novel·la, Quanta, quanta guerra... es va publicar l'any 1980. Aquest mateix any va rebre el Premi d'Honor de les Lletres Catalanes. Va morir a Girona l'any 1983.
