With seven universities, Córdoba is the educational center of Argentina, and its large student population gives the city a vibrancy like no other. You never run out of bars to hop or people to meet, and you'll find it difficult to leave once you lide into the scene. Moreover, Córdoba boasts Argentina's best-preserved colonial architecture, from the breathtaking 17th-century Manzana Jesuítica to underground Jesuit crypts, to the country's oldest university. Although this is Argentina's second-largest city, its downtown is easily explored on foot. The colonial center, the hip restaurants and bars of Nueva Córdoba, and the weekend crafts market-one of the best in the country-in Barrio Güemes are all within walking distance of each other.
