Accueil Goutte d'Or (Community Center)

This community center served the 18th district particularly the immigrant community. The director shared many stories of abuse and neglect from the city of Paris towards the mostly north African immigrants. The community center offered childcare to women while they learned French and aided in finding housing and other educational resources for members of the community. The director shared that many women use the center but men have a difficult time sharing the shame of their experiences openly. Only a few blocks to the West an elementary school had banners calling for an end to the deportation of their students and their families.
