Originally a trick described by Valery Hronusov, and put into action using Tagzania by Stefan Geens of Ogle Earth.

When using Gmail, you can attach a file to the message, or also event information that automatically creates a Google Calendar entry and an iCal file that your recipients will get.



The trick consists on adding a KML file URL to the Where field of Gmail's interface. That way, the recipient will see a direct link to a map, and also will have the option to open the location in Google Earth. So, if you use an individual KML file for any Tagzania location or item, you can precisely locate the event.



Screenshots here show an example of an email sent with information about the location of the next Where 2.0 Conference, to be held in San Jose, California, next may. The place is tagged here in Tagzania, and below the map, you have the KML link for it.

Location URLs and the associated KML are clearly associated in Tagzania. Examples:

Perhaps everything can be made plain and easy adding the direct Tagzania link in the event description. But if you are a fan of mash-ups, here you have the oportunity to mash up and mix  Tagzania, KML and Google Earth, Google Calendar and iCal, Gmail and Google Maps, you can tag event locations in Tagzania, then use that KML link to invite people to attend.
