Interface improvements: tag suggestions, items easier to identify in maps

We've introduced some improvements while adapting to the new version (v2) of the Google Maps API

Registered users will see, when posting, that adding tags to their locations is now easier. Your tags are listed below the dialog boxes, and just click any to see the tag appear at the form. If you begin typing, as well, suggestions arise and those can be clicked as well to complete the words. More or less as when you post at del.icio.us, this feature makes use of the now popular AJAX technology.

Moreover:
  • There's a minimap function that the new API brings with it. We're not that convinced with the minimap, but included it there as a trial.
  • There's also more space for the description
Another upgrade, visible to all users, is present in all maps: if you pass the cursor over pinpoints (red or yellow), the title appears without clicking.

This way, places are easier to identify while you see them in a map. No need to click on pinpoints to see what's there. The title of the location arises, and you read it. In the example above, if you know Chinese, of course :-)

However, there's one thing we haven't upgraded yet: the maps to be pasted elsewhere are not yet adapted... CORRECTED: That bug was fixed. You can now paste this item  in your blog, and you'll get a nice close view of the Atomium in Brussels.
