Google and Microsoft improve their imagery, and changes can be appreciated from Tagzania

Besides the Landsat link explained yesterday, there are more adjustments among the maps that open from Tagzania's locations. The maps opening with the Google Local label, have now a pinpoint with the exact location and title of the item signaled at Tagzania. Imagery of those maps has been recently updated by Google, and they show those images now at Google Local but not yet through the Google Maps API that Tagzania uses.

That means that, in several places, you may get better Google Maps when clicking on that link. For instance, the island of Hierro in the Canary Islands, or this building in Tallinn, Estonia. Hopefully, these changes will arrive to Tagzania when the API methods are updated by Google.

On the other hand, Google's big rival in global mapping issues, Microsoft, is also renewing the views offered by their system, called Virtual Earth as a service, but currently in use at the Windows Live Local website. In this case, it is street plans that are being updated. Very detailed maps of areas in northern France have been signalled by users. We have adjusted the Live Local links that open from Tagzania to show those maximum-detail maps wherever available. So, opening the Windows Live Local link from a location in Cherbourg, for instance, will show you the new imagery.
